Wool Harvesting Team
Burbidge Farms is often looking for wool harvesting team members. Those who would like to learn to shear and also people who wish to work as wool handlers.
The main requirements for these positions is that you are enthusiastic and trainable. We are very happy to train people who are willing to do the hard work necessary to succeed. The Shear Anywhere platform system makes shearing sheep a lot easier than conventional shearing; however, it is still hard but rewarding work. As of June 2021 the rate is $4.10 per sheep shorn.
We don't care what anyone's background is. It is where you want to go which is important. While learning we will pay you a daily rate until you can earn more by being paid per sheep. This usually takes 2 to 3 weeks.
Like all trades, you need good tools and maintain them well to shear efficiently. Most learners will not have any shearing gear. We will provide you with the necessary gear and you can purchase it over the first 3 weeks you are learning.
The wool harvesting team is a dynamic and professional outfit of young people with plenty of fun to be had along the way. Send a message via our contact page if you are interested in joining the team.
Accomodation on farm
Accomodation for our wool harvesting team is in modern dongas which have single rooms with ensuites and a shared kitchen and games room.
